Crime Report: Police Searching for Suspects Who Damaged Fenton Gazebo
The following arrest information was supplied by the Fenton Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Police are searching for suspects responsible for damaging the Fenton Gazebo during the early morning hours Sunday.
Fenton Police Chief Rick Aro said a resident called police around 2:40 a.m. after he heard a loud banging and then witnessed suspects damaging the gazebo. Aro said the man yelled at the suspects, who then ran and police were unable to locate them.
Aro said the railing on the gazebo had been damaged to an unknown value.
Police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious to call the Fenton Police Department at 810-629-5311.
Stolen vehicle
A 21-year-old Fenton woman told police she let her boyfriend borrow her truck and he never returned the vehicle.
Aro said the woman said she let her then boyfriend borrow her 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck on July 12 and came in the police department on July 22 after it had not been returned.
The woman gave police the location of where the man could have been staying and police are continuing to investigate to locate the suspect and the vehicle.
Retail fraud
Police are searching for a retail fraud suspect after Kmart store security reported that a woman left the store without paying for a large amount of merchandise.
Aro said she fled into a waiting car and left the scene. Police were unable to locate to the vehicle, but store security provided the license plate number, which was registered to a Flint residence. Fenton Police are working with Flint Police to try and locate the suspects.

The gazebo is made of redwood that cost an unimaginable amount of money to replace. It takes about 3 months to have the wood shipped in and the cost of a slat alone is more than one would think. I hope whoever is responsible is caught and prosecuted!

Which gazebo was it? If it's the one by city hall, seems odd the police didn't notice/hear anything.

The Police dept is half a block away with City Hall sitting between it and the gazebo, not to mention that the building is brick. There is a camera in the gazebo but it's not operational at this time....if it were operational, they at least could post a picture of the person or persons who vandalized it--this time.

C.C., thanks for the heads-up on the fact that the "camera" at the gazebo is non-operational. About 4 years ago, I was on a date and had decided that the gazebo would be a safe place to sit and chat with my date since it is so close to the police station, the Leroy traffic, etc. My date decided to get extremely "fresh" with me and a brawl ensued between him and I. I had thought at the time that it was odd no one heard me or tried to help me. I am supposing that the camera hasn't worked in a very long time and needs to be fixed.
