Fenton Community Orchestra Prepares for 3rd Season

Organization looking for new participants.

Fenton Community Orchestra is starting its third season.

Rehearsals for this multigenerational orchestra will be held Thursday nights (6-8pm) starting September 13, 2012 at the Fenton High School Band Room.

“We are thrilled that Mr. Andrew Perkins has agreed to continue on with the position of Music Director,” said Jennifer Fleck of the “He brings a wealth of experience in working with the Fenton School ensembles as well as arranging and composing music.  Our partnership with Mr. Perkins and the Fenton schools has strengthened our orchestra as well as brought an incredible musical opportunity to the students of the Fenton area.”

The orchestra is looking into many areas to develop musicians and ties with the Fenton Community. The weekly rehearsals are the primary enjoyment of those involved, Fleck said. She added that being able to play in an orchestral setting with musicians of all ages who want to do the same is a very special experience.

Just like the organization’s first year, the full Fenton Community Orchestra welcomes new participants, hoping to maintain a regular group of 40-50 at each of the weekly rehearsals.

“We want more of the Fenton community to become even more aware of one of Fenton’s newest cultural additions, if not become involved in some way,” Fleck said. “They may join the orchestra, attend a concert or support us with time or donations.”
