Train Strikes, Kills Female in Fenton

Fenton Police investigating train-pedestrian crash that occurred on tracks near Silver Lake Hills Apartments.

A train struck and killed a female in Fenton Monday, police said.

Fenton Police Department Sgt. Gregory Feamster said they are currently investigating the train-pedestrian crash, but did not provide any other information, including the victim's age.

Fenton firefighters responded to the scene around 7:15 p.m.

Emergency personnel removed the victim's body from the front of the train, which stopped along Silver Lake Road near U.S. 23, around 8:30 p.m. Officials kept the body covered by tarps.

Police said the Canadian National (CN) Railway freight train 5749 struck the victim west of where the train stopped. Police were investigating the area on the tracks near Silver Lake Hills Apartments Monday night.

CN officials declined to comment.

Police blocked westbound Silver Lake road and motorists were detoured.

No other information is currently available. Feamster said Fenton Police would put out a press release Tuesday morning.
