Fenton Tigers 14U Welcomed at Miracle League of Mid Michigan

Fenton teens help those with physical and cognitive challenges.

The Fenton Tigers Travel Baseball (FTTB) 14 year olds volunteered assistance and guidance to young athletes at the Miracle League of Mid Michigan on July 9.

The Miracle League is an organization dedicated to helping children with physical and cognitive challenges to develop and achieve their full potential by providing the opportunity for them to play baseball as part of a team in an organized league.

The Fenton Tigers 14U players are now in their last year of community-based baseball, some of which have been playing together for nearly a decade.  As they prepare to graduate into school district leagues, they are now recognizing the need to start giving back.

“I am impressed at how the Fenton 14-year-olds matured into men seemingly in an instant," said Tigers Manager Cliff Sands. “This was not an easy task, but our players embraced the Miracle League athletes and shared a common love for the game of Baseball”.

In addition to spending an evening with Miracle League, the FTTB 14U donated $500 from their teams discretionary funds and gave each athlete a commemorative 2012 Fenton Tigers Pin to remember the event.

The Miracle League is not just about baseball, it's about hundreds of dedicated athletes, parents, coaches, buddies, volunteers, and sponsors coming together to support, encourage and inspire each other in an inclusive environment that embraces diversity, Sands said. The benefits of participating in Miracle League Baseball extend beyond the field and impact everyone involved, he added.
