How long have you lived in the area?
I have lived in the Fenton area for 22 years.
What community and civic organizations are you currently involved in?
I have thoroughly enjoyed donating my time coaching youth sports, charity events, service organizations such as Community Parent (Chasing the Dragon), an organization that educates parents and children regarding the dangers of drugs, and now the Fenton Township Board.
Why did you want to run for office?
I am currently a Trustee for Fenton Township. For the past four years as a Trustee, I have developed a knowledge of the challenges and opportunities our community is facing. I feel I can continue working with the board and find effective ways to better our community. I simply want to donate my time and “give back” to the Fenton community.
What personal and professional experiences make you qualified to hold that position?
I have served as a Board Trustee for the past four years. Prior to this, I began my working career as a laborer for construction companies where I learned the value of hard work. Since that time, I started and now own my own business. Through this experience, I have been able to better understand all aspects involved in running a successful operation and business entity.
What is the most important issue and what do you intend to do about it during your term in office?
Public safety, maintaining a strong police presence in the area. Roads are always a major concern and trying to find the money to fix them is always our biggest obstacle while maintaining a balanced budget. Personal property rights, residents should have more rights over their own property and some of the ordinances are out dated and need to be revised.
What is your vision for the area, where do you see the area in 10 or even 20 years, and what does the area need to do now to realize that vision?
Economic growth, develop the Thompson Road Corridor, park and recreation fields for our youths that Fenton Township has longed for. Keeping the violence and drugs out of our schools and community. What I commit to the people of Fenton Township is a tireless effort to make the community of Fenton a better place for everyone.
