Fire Destroys Fenton Township Barn

Structure burned around 3:30 a.m. on Ripley Road.

Firefighters are unsure of a the cause of a blaze that torched a barn on Ripley Road.

An abandoned barn burned to the ground in Fenton Township early Thursday morning.

Fenton Township Fire Chief Ryan Volz said firefighters were dispatched to the blaze on Ripley Road between Rolston and Lahring Roads around 3:30 a.m. He said the structure was fully involved when crews arrived. The barn was about 576 square feet, Volz said.

Volz said firefighters are unsure of the cause, adding that lightning could have possibly started it.

The city of Fenton and Mundy Township Fire Departments assisted on the blaze.
