Lake Fenton Winter Classic Registration Ends Today

Hockey tournament set to take place Jan. 19 and 20 on Barnum Lake.

Time is running out to sign up for the second annual Lake Fenton Winter Classic.

Wednesday is the last day to register for the pond hockey tournament, which is set to take place Jan. 19 and 20 on Barnum Lake located behind Lakeside Market and the Fireplace Bar & Grill, 2238 N. Long Lake Fenton.

Teams (Ages 18+) of seven will compete in a 4-on-4 game with no goalies and only pure pond hockey. In addition to pond hockey, there will be activities for the whole family. Inside the warming tents there will be food, beverages and live entertainment. Mobile Gaming will be set up for children to play the most current video games on Saturday and Sunday. The festivities will start at 7 p.m. Friday Jan. 18 with a player registration party located at Fireplace. The registration party is open to the public.

"You don't have to be a great player just someone who loves the game and to have a great time," said orgainzer Sean Lapham.

The entry fee guarantees three games. Games will be on Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday morning. The championship game will be played on Sunday afternoon. The winner of each division will be able to lift the Des Crowley Memorial Cup and have their team name engraved on it.

I played some "pure pond hockey" last night against the neighbors and had a blast!

We have pushed the cut off date to next Wednesday. We only have a few spots left that we would like to fill to have a full tournament. Thank you for the post!
