Police Investigate Three Fenton Business Break-ins
Police make one arrest, identify another suspect.
Fenton Police arrested a Fenton man on charges of breaking and entering after they say he stole items from two different Fenton businesses around 3 a.m. June 14.
Fenton Police Chief Rick Aro said police first responded to an entry alarm at Matt and Terry’s Market on North Road and observed a large hole in the front window. Police believe the suspects used a large rock to break the glass to gain entry and took tobacco and beverages.
Police reviewed video footage and as they were clearing the scene, received a call for another entry alarm from Wireless Toys on North Leroy Street. While in route, an officer noticed a man on a bike riding away from the location. Police made contact with the suspect and found he had stolen property from both places, Aro said.
Aro added that the 24-year-old Fenton man later admitted to both break-ins and will be charged with breaking and entering.
Police are also investigating a theft from Gerych’s Distinctive Flowers & Gifts that occurred at 4 a.m. June 16. An employee reported an unknown person had entered an interior office and stolen a small amount of cash.
Police reviewed video footage that revealed an image of the suspect and were able to identify a suspect, but have been unable to make contact with him.
Aro said the case is unrelated to the other break-ins and it remains under investigation.
