Pets Can Sit with Santa at Fenton Jinglefest

Fenton Jinglefest kicks off Friday with most activities taking place Saturday.

While your children can get their photos taken with Santa at the 2011 Fenton Jinglefest, so can your pets.

The Animal Health Clinic will host its annual Santa Paws event from noon-4 p.m. Saturday in front of the Fenton Community & Cultural Center.

"We usually have quite a few people, usually dogs," said Serena Mercer, practice manager. "Sometimes it's hard to get them to stay still, but we have plenty of toys and biscuits and people making funny noises to get them to look."

There will be a small fee for the photos, with the proceeds donated to Puppies Behind Bars, a program through which inmates train dogs.

"It helps the inmates and the dogs," Mercer said.

The Animal Health Clinic's float in the Jinglefest Parade will feature two dogs dressed as Mr. and Mrs. Claus and four smaller dogs dressed as elves.

If you don't own a pet but have one on your Christmas list, Fenton Adopt-A-Pet is hosting a Home for the Holidays event from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at 13575 North Fenton Rd. People adopting pets will also be able to have their picture taken with Santa after the adoption process.

Adopt-A-Pet will also host Santa pictures with your pet from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 18.
