Weekend Planner: Jinglefest, Talent Show, Weavers, Food Drive and Winter Marketplace

Here's a look at what's happening around town this weekend.

 

1. TEEN TALENT SHOW STARTS OFF JINGLEFEST

Where: Fenton Community & Cultural Center, 150 S Leroy St., Fenton

When: Doors open at 5 p.m.; middle school talent show's at 5:30 p.m., followed by the high school talent show at 8 p.m.

Cost: $5

Why go: Support talented youths in your community.

2. JINGLE JOG, JINGLEFEST PARADE AND GAZEBO LIGHTING

Where: Leroy Street in downtown Fenton

When: 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 (Jingle Jog) and 6 p.m. (lighted parade); lighting immediately follows parade at City Hall gazebo with Santa

Cost: The parade and gazebo lighting are free events; it's $25 to register day of Jingle Jog (you also may register in advance at www.slpr.net or Southern Lakes Parks & Recreation offices, 150 S. Leroy St., Fenton)

Why go: Get into the spirit of the season with the tree lighting, holiday parade and a fun run; don't forget to check out the list of all of Saturday's Jinglefest events, which include a cookie walk at Fenton United Methodist Church, performances, and Santa pictures.

3. SEE SANTA AND MRS. CLAUS, HELP GLEANERS

Where: Tyrone Township Hall, 10408 Center Road, Fenton

When: 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3

Cost: Bring non-perishable food goods for people and pets; there's no charge to take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus

Why go: Help families in need during the holiday season; also, you may bring your camera to take the kids' pics with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

4. BLACK SHEEP WEAVERS FIBER GUILD HOLIDAY SALE

Where: Hartland Insurance Agency, 2532 N Old US 23, Hartland (Howell mailing)

When: 3-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3

Cost: No admission fee

Why go: The sale offers unique, hand-crafted, fiber-based items at reasonable prices while helping to support local fiber artists.

 

5. WINTER MARKETPLACE

Where: The Opera House, 123 W. Grand River, Howell

When: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4

Cost: Free

Why go: Enjoy choosing from local eggs, meat, fresh produce, baked goods, crafts, fine arts, jewelry, pottery and more in this historic architectural jewel.
