Fenton Mystery Diners Anticipate The Old Fenton Fire Hall

"Hey Freddy, what's going on with the old fire hall?"

"It doesn’t look like anything is going on," Freddy replies.

Well Freddy knows through inside sources that construction has begun. Well, at least construction in paper format has begun. Tonya and I anxiously await the opening of The Fenton Fire Hall. It was originally scheduled to open around April 30, 2013 and now the deadline has been pushed to June.

Freddy and Tonya want to give you a glimpse of what you can expect from Union Shop's newest addition, The Fenton Fire Hall.  If you have never visited two of their locations in Clarkston, you certainly will be pleased when they bring their famous bar-b-que, fish, steak, sandwiches and more to Fenton.

Now Freddy and Tonya are not quite sure on the exact menu for the Fenton location, we understand that many of the Clarkston favorites will be making an appearance in Fenton.

The appetizers may consist of the wood-fired breadsticks to fried pickles.  Hot soups and chili will warm your innards. There will probably be a handful of huge salads to pick from also.

The main entrees may consist of chicken, pork, brisket and ribs to name a few items.  Tonya, did you know they smoke their meats onsite?  And they also make their own bar-b-que sauces that are awesome!

Freddy, are you going to tell the readers about the mac & cheese?!

"I was getting to that Tonya."

Their mac and cheese has to be the best mac & cheese I have ever had. Let's just say it is an adult blend of cheeses that even kids like.  It has a crispy topping that is the best.  The mac and cheese can be ordered as a side dish along with about a dozen other sides.

We can only hope that they bring their famous Maple Bourbon Sundae to Fenton. The glaze is made from Michigan maple syrup and Jim Beam bourbon.  The ice cream is made on site using a nitrogen infused method of freezing the liquid mixture.  It is topped with house smoked Spanish peanuts.  Yummy.  Other desserts may consist of hot donuts, fresh brownies and cobblers.

Freddy, you forgot about the pizza!

Oh yeah, Tonya...the pizza, how could I forget?  The pizza is hand tossed and topped with the most amazing toppings and then slid into a wood fired brick oven, cooked to perfection.  I like the fact that you can select from the various sauces, cheeses and toppings to create your own special pizza.

"Freddy, I can’t wait for The Fenton Fire Hall to open."

"I know Tonya, neither can I."

But just to let our readers know, this article was written from our many experiences at the Union Woodshop on South Main St in Clarkston.  You can get a look at their website at http://unionwoodshop.com/ Actual menus may vary in Fenton, but we are sure it will be delicious.

We welcome Curt Catallo and Ann Stevenson to Fenton and we are excited to see opening day of the new Fenton Fire Hall.

As an add-on to this article Tonya and I went to Birmingham for a charity event recently.  After the event we drove down Woodward to Vinsetta Garage, a Union Shop’s latest conversion of a historic building to a restaurant in Berkley.  All I can say is that Curt and Ann retained the original look of the garage with all of the historic signage and look.

Sadly, that is all we can say about it.  People were waiting all over the place to get in.  We sadly had to pass up on the dining experience and we will have to wait until The Fenton Fire Hall opens in the spring.  I can only hope that The Fenton Fire Hall brings the best of Clarkston and Berkley to Fenton.

Freddy, are you going to tell the readers about the beer? I guess not. The Union has an amazing beer selection - the best in this area and I am really looking forward to dozens of great beer taps at the Fire Hall.

Vinsetta Garage is without any qustions a GREAT place to dine; service and food is superior. The only draw back is the wait and parking; approx. one hour but is well worth it!

Vinsetta is amazing as well! The pizza that we had there was awesome and don't forget about the Rock & Rye ice cream with Pop Rocks on top! I cannot wait for the new restaurant in Fenton, especially the outside dining option.

Check out Fenton's own Beale Street Smokehouse, they smoke all of their meats onsite. So good!

It would be great if they would put some effort into a few gluten free menu choices including desserts
