Freddy & Tonya's Night Out in Fenton, Part 1 of 3

The Fenton House by Tonya Lasagna

Part 1 of a 3 part mini-series.  Well, not a mini-series, let’s call it a night out in Fenton.  Dinner, Play, Wine and entertainment right here in Fenton!

Here is Part 1

Today we visit Fenton House on S. Leroy along with my Mom and Dad, Crony and Tony Rigatoni. It’s a good thing Crony and Tony like to eat early because we arrived at Fenton House before the big rush on a Saturday night.

Matt greeted us and took our drink order AND he asked us if we wanted to start off with some bread sticks.  Are you kidding?!  Who wouldn’t?  Those fresh out of the oven, sticks of mouthwatering starchy goodness are to die for!  Ok, so I like them.  So shoot me for over acting.

“Well we are going to see Escanaba in Love at the Fenton Village Playhouse after we eat Freddy,” Freddy exclaims.  “Oh yeah…you’re right Freddy.  So we better get to ordering”.

Everything is so good at the Fenton House, from the salads, to the pasta to the pizza.  You can’t go wrong.  Crony and Tony split a bowl of spaghetti, Freddy had pesto chicken and I had the baked chicken.  Freddy and I ordered the “value” portion and it was plenty to eat along with the salads and breadsticks.  Oh…have I ever told you that the breadsticks are to die for?!

The Fenton House has been a long standing establishment in our fine town.  It is housed in the old bowling alley and the arcade games are still in the back room for the kiddies to play and spend your quarters.  Actually they go there to give you and the Mrs. time to chat a bit before the food comes.  Note to self – if you want to dine in quiet, sit up front.  There is a small banquet room off to the side and a recently added patio area out back.

So all in all the Fenton House is a great place for family fun and good food.  No…great food.

“Hey Freddy, we have to get to the play”, I said.  So we head over to see the Fenton Village Players in the last major production of the season, Escanaba in Love, a play written by Jeff Daniels.  We will write about this in our next article.

Stay tuned for part two of our "Night Out in Fenton!"

Look to the Fenton Patch for all of our dining adventures.  We could be visiting a restaurant, bar, or dive in your neck of the woods next.

Love the restaurant reviews! I've agreed with all of them so far. Which of course makes them intelligent and insightful information. :)

Why thank you Laurie. I am glad someone is reading and enjoying our reviews. Tonya and I enjoy writing them.

Keep those cards and letters coming readers.

We love you! :-)

Those of us on special diets would appreciate if you would add a comment or two on menu choices for vegetarians or individuals on a gluten free diet. I hate wasting time going into a restaurant only to find out there is nothing other than a salad for vegetarians. When we go out with another couple where the wife needs to eat gluten free it gets even more difficult. Best place for adapting to both so far is Redwood.

Good Comment! We will keep a look out for more choices for vegetarians and for the gluten free meals. Although Tonya isn't a vegetarian, she does tend to keep it on the healthy side. We'll let you know what we come up with.
