Wanna Go for a Ride?

I happen to notice people and their pets. Out for a walk, riding in the car, playing in their yard. There is one thing that has become a pet peeve of mine. Most likely because it is avoidable and may save lives. Who gave the dog a drivers license? A dog sitting in the driver's lap is an accident waiting to happen.

If you are in an accident, the airbag may deploy. Where is that dog going to go?
The force of the airbag will instantly kill the dog and drive him against or into your body. If he was hanging out the window, he has now been ejected and
is either injured or dead.

Many pets ride nicely in the family vehicle. Others are like ping pong balls, bouncing from seat to seat. They are a source of distraction and annoying. There are many products on the market that are used to keep your pet safe while riding in the car or truck. A pet carrier, a harness that attaches to the seatbelt, a pet barrier. All have their good and bad points. He doesn't like it is not a reason for not ensuring the safety of you, your family, the pet and the other guy. What other guy? The one you may hit when you are distracted by your pet. In some states it is now unlawful to travel with a pet that is not restrained.

Teach your pet to enjoy his new restraint, carrier or barrier. So the next time you ask "wanna go for a ride"? Your pet can still be comfortable, enjoy his ride and be safe.
