Fenton’s summer concert series has been plagued with questionable to bad weather this summer. The series began strong on June 2 with fair weather despite a rocky spring. The Thursdays that followed left organizers wondering what to expect for the 7 to 8:30 p.m. time slot.   Country group “Wildfire” had to warm crowds despite a deep chill in the air on June 9.  The next two weeks the bands “The Delivery Boys” and “Mustard’s Retreat” took a gamble on the 50 percent chance of rain predictions and remained outdoors. Both managed to narrowly escape rain during their performance times and played …

Hot summer evenings filled with music and family fun may seem like a distant dream, but planning for Fenton’s Concert in the Park and Linden’s Music by the Mill Series is already underway.  Southern Lakes Parks & Recreation has scheduled and managed the concerts for the past eight years and has worked on Linden’s music series for five years.  This year, SLPR has contracted KJohnston Presents… to coordinate both communities’ events.  The Fenton and Linden series are being organized in tandem to allow for musical genre coordination as well as artist fee negotiation purposes.   “Community …
The South Lakes Community Arts Council has recently undergone many changes and is hitting the New Year running with many new projects.  The biggest change for the group happened just before the New Year, when the group voted to change its name to the “Lakes Area Arts Council." According to board members the “South Lakes” phrase has been used by so many groups in the area, that it was becoming more difficult to distinguish the group from the many other organizations providing community services.  With the new name, the group is focusing on new energy for its committees and projects. The arts …
