Fenton’s summer concert series has been plagued with questionable to bad weather this summer. The series began strong on June 2 with fair weather despite a rocky spring.The Thursdays that followed left organizers wondering what to expect for the 7 to 8:30 p.m. time slot.   Country group “Wildfire” had to warm crowds despite a deep chill in the air on June 9.  The next two weeks the bands “The Delivery Boys” and “Mustard’s Retreat” took a gamble on the 50 percent chance of rain predictions and remained outdoors. The Lakes Area Arts Council will be hosting its first in a series of Professional Development Workshops from 1 to 4 p.m. July 12 from at Caretel Inns of Linden.  The workshop is titled: Social Media & Internet for Artists. The South Lakes Community Arts Council has recently undergone many changes and is hitting the New Year running with many new projects.  The biggest change for the group happened just before the New Year, when the group voted to change its name to the “Lakes Area Arts Council." According to board members the “South Lakes” phrase has been used by so many groups in the area, that it was becoming more difficult to distinguish the group from the many other organizations providing community services.  With the new name, the group is focusing on new energy for its committees and projects.
