Hot Dog Owners Should be Grilled

Form of animal abuse.

It's another hot day in fabulous Fenton. The perfect day to LEAVE your dog home in the air conditioning. Where in the good dog owner handbook does it say to leave your dog unattended in a car in this heat? If you are hot, the dog is hot.

A dog cools itself by panting. Cars heat up very quickly even in the shade. Try sitting in a winter coat in the parking lot, on a hot day. Now roll up the windows

part way. Sit there for the length of time it would have taken you to run into the store. Unbearable isn't it? It is also easy to lose track of time in an air conditioned store. Going in for those few items can easily turn into much longer than you thought. Lines at the registers, stopping to talk to a friend, seeing something else you needed to pick up can easily lengthen that quick stop

It is wonderful to socialize your dog and take it places. Running errands with you on a hot day while you go in and out of stores is not the time to do it. This is a form of animal abuse. Many times over the years, I have gone into a store and had a store employee page a car owner by the description of the vehicle and the license plate number. I have also left the AKC handout regarding summer care and dogs, and yes, I'll admit it, nasty-grams on the car.

A dog in distress because it's owner only "went in for a few things", is a situation  easily avoidable. Use common sense, leave your dog at home OR get grilled by the good Samaritan who just happened to notice your dog in distress.

Thanks for writing this article. Hopefully the people that are leaving their dogs in the car will read this also. I saw a dog in the car on Memorial Weekend with the windows up. I called Customer Service at Walmart and asked them to page the owner of the car, I gave make and model. I didn't stay to scold them because I was afraid of what I might actually say to the person. Next time I will call 911 and have the police deal with them, it IS Animal Abuse and they will do something about it, I have been told.

Baker may be a great trade school for some but just remember that it is not transferable to anyRead More other school or university.

You need to know that if you live around children that you can control your animal. Pitbulls are theRead More most powerful dog that there is. They can jump a 4 foot tall fence. You have to consider would you let your pitbull play with a two year old? There are kids in neighborhoods that play and these dogs can overpower and chew up several adults if it desired to. There are several pitbulls in Fenton and they always snarl and bark aggressively at my 17 month old. Pitbulls seem to dislike wagons and anything on wheels on sidewalks. This is why I despise them. I don't appreciate dogs acting aggressively towards infants and I don't know why anyone would want a dog with the most powerful jaw and meanest temperament of all dogs. These dogs where breed to be vicious, strong and relentless; please don't forget that. Every pitbull owner whose dog chewed up an old lady, a baby, or others always says the same thing " he was the nicest dog, he would lick you to death."

Thank you Karen, pitbull owners need to take very special care in "socializing" theirRead More animals and take very extreme precautions for their dogs. The average adult can fend off most breeds of dogs accept for pitbulls and children do not stand a chance. Please be aware of the uncontrollable dangers of these dogs.
