Fenton Fundraiser Raises $5,781 for Loose Center Seniors

The money will provide scholarships for seniors to participate in activities, in memory of the late Director Marjorie Hodges.

The community turned out for a night of music, food and beverages, raising $5,781 for the Loose Senior Center. The fundraiser took place Aug. 27, at Activity Center in Fenton, to raise money for seniors who need assistance to participate in activities offered through the Loose center.

A scholarship fund has been established in memory of Loose center Director Marjorie Hodges, who passed away after a battle with cancer.

Cheryl King, Fenton City councilwoman and a member of the Loose Senior Citizen Center Board, said the center would like to thank all of the businesses from Argentine, Fenton and Linden that made the fundraiser a success. St. John Catholic Church provided its Activity Center for the location, and Cal Roberts, formerly of The Platters, provided music for the fundraiser.

In addition, the Loose Community Angels, a volunteer group comprised of seniors from the Loose center, and the Loose Center Board of Directors also gave their support, King said.

Twenty-six businesses donated food or other items for the event.
