Loose Senior Center Recovery Begins

Community rallies as senior center recovers from blaze.

  • Earlier this week Lasco Ford, in Fenton, contributed a and will donate $25 per car sold, to the Loose center to aid in the recovery.
  • Also, two of the senior center's three buildings could be usable again in a week or two, after some cleanup, which has begun.

And the senior center office will open at 9 a.m. Tuesday, the Fenton Press reported Friday. The office is located in small building on the property that was not damaged in the blaze.

The article stated members are encouraged to call with their information, because all files were lost in the fire.

"We are moving forward. There's good, positive things," Fenton Councilwoman Cheryl King said Monday. King represents the city on the Loose center board.

The Loose website states that all activities have been canceled until further notice.

Also posted on the site is a message stating, "You can be sure that the staff and the board of directors will do everything they can to get programs back up and running as soon as possible. It is comforting to know that the overwhelming kindness of the community and the perseverance of all of us who care so much for Loose, will aid greatly in this healing and moving forward process.

"During the fires destruction, a rainbow appeared. A gentle reminder that on the other side is a 'colorful piece that beautifies the sky and symbolizes hope and life after every hard storm.'"
