'Anything Goes' Opens at Fenton Village Players

Tap dancing and Cole Porter music take to the stage.

The were rewarded with a standing ovation last week for their opening of "Anything Goes", their current musical production.

Set in the 30's aboard a ship traveling from New York to London, the show features music by Cole Porter with familiar songs such as I Get a Kick Out of You and Delovely and includes several big tap-dance numbers.

The cast of characters includes a young debutante, Hope Harcourt, played by Anna Sansonetti, who steals the heart of stowaway and practical joker, Billy Crocker, played by Michael Raleigh. Though engaged to the daft Englishman, Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, played by Russell Duce, Billy is determined to end the engagement and win the girl.

Along the way, Billy is also befriended by lovable gangster, Moonface Martin (played by Michael Poehner) and nightclub singer, Reno Sweeny (played by Rebecca Blosser.) Moonface provides a lot of the comedic element while Reno carries most of the show-stopping numbers.

"I loved the experience," said Blosser of her FVP debut, "And I'd definitely do more shows here if I weren't moving to New York."
