Fenton Film Series to Present Hysteria

Film showing to take place at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Fenton Community & Cultural Center.

On Wednesday, Feb. 13th, the Fenton Film Series will present  Hysteria, a British romantic comedy starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, Hugh Dancy, Rubert Everett and Felicity Jones.

The comedy gives serious lesson on the social history of women's health care.  The movie is set in 19th century London and portrays the era's backward state of medical science. The film uses the history of gynecology as a backdrop for a romantic comedy.

In Victorian London, almost every female complaint to their doctor was diagnosed as "hysteria" and treated in shocking and comical ways. The film has met with phenomenal success at film festivals worldwide and now comes to Fenton.

"It's a movie you can watch with your parents or your adult children and not blush...much," stated organizer John Strayer.

The movie starts at 7 p.m. at the Fenton Community & Cultural Center and admission is free.

Now in its third year, the Fenton Film Series continues with its mission of showing free, high quality movies every month in downtown Fenton in the auditorium of the Fenton Community and Cultural Center.

The movies are presented free thanks to the generous donations from sponsors, including the Fenton Downtown Development Authority, Tanglewood Assisted Living & Home Care, financial advisor Patrick Perfitt, Behind Your Design, Southern Lakes Parks & Recreation, and Comfort Keepers.  Thanks to these additional sponsors, free refreshments will also be available, including sandwiches from Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches, pastries and coffee from The Laundry and Crust, and homemade root beer from the Fenton Winery & Brewery.

My wife and I had the opportunity to see the movie here in Bogota several months back. There is a good deal of humor, though an almost predictable ending. Great acting all around. Love the period home decoration. Excellent couples movie. I recommend to make it a romantic evening and go out for dinner as well. But I do not recommend taking the kids even if they are adults.
