Fenton Chamber Holds Ribbon Cutting at Ortho Michigan

The Fenton location, which opened a couple of months ago, joins Ortho Michigan's offices in Flint and Lapeer.

Dennis Leyder, chairman of the board for said the chamber is always glad to have a ribbon cutting and a new office.

"We're always pleased to have new members to the Fenton Regional Chamber," Leyder said. "We're glad Ortho Michigan is part of our business community."

Practice Manager Jim Long, of Ortho Michigan, said they decided to come to Fenton since Ortho Michigan's Flint office was seeing a larger number of patients from the Fenton, Hartland and Linden areas. The new Fenton office will be an easier drive for these patients.

"We've been looking forward to expanding in Fenton for a long time," said Dr. Steve Burton, a partner in the business.

Patients receive services for musculoskeletal issues, including knee and hip replacements or reconstructions, other joint replacements or reconstructions, sports medicine, carpal tunnel surgery, bunions, fractures, spinal injuries, arthritis and more, the website said.

Dr. Matthew Sardelli, of Ortho Michigan, practices sports medicine. Patients can be treated for concerns such as tendinitis, from golf or tennis, for example, Long said.

"We are really striving for bringing a full range of orthopedic care to people in the southern area of ," Dr. Sidney Martin, also a partner, said.

Ortho Michigan combines doctors on one side of its Fenton office, with therapists on the other side. The co-location makes it easy for doctors to walk over to the other side of the office to check on patients during their therapy, said Martin.

One of the biggest advances in orthopedics is arthroscopic surgery for shoulders and knees, he said. It's nice for Ortho Michigan to be able to offer a full array of joint replacement options, since the U.S. is approaching 600,000 to 800,000 hip and knee replacements annually, Martin added.

His group also works with for access to experimental products not yet available to the general public, he said.

Any Ortho Michigan location has arthroscopic surgery, and products through Kettering University, available to its patients, Martin said.
