Jill's General Store Brings Family Feel to Dibbleville

Store features a variety of items.

There’s a new place for browsing, shopping and fun in Downtown Fenton.

Jill’s General Store opened its doors in September at 405 S. Leroy. The eclectic new shop showcases unique vintage items and also newer items, along with locally made organic soaps.

Jill’s General Store is a family affair, including Jimmie, a retired electrician with GM Truck and Bus; his wife Mary, who has worked with vintage clothing and antiques for years; and their children, siblings Jill and Brian. The business is truly multi-generational as Jill’s three children and Brian’s daughter come by to help the grownups after school.

“We have collected vintage items for years, and thought this would be a great opportunity to be a part of a community with a small town feel,” said Jill.

The family she brought with her to Downtown Fenton’s Dibbleville district isn’t the only camaraderie she’s experienced in her new business. The new neighbors and fellow merchants have reached out to her and made her feel right at home.

“We just love it,” she says. “It feels like a family here. The people who live in the building, the people who work downtown, it’s just been great.”

A one-time Texan, Jill is designing her store to take on a southern flare with the variety and eccentricity of a traditional “general store.”
