New Restaurant Brings Thai Flavors to Fenton

Bangkok Peppers Too opens, bringing a new family business to town.

 

Bangkok Peppers Too, located at 1429 N. Leroy St., has been open for just three weeks and already business is booming.

Owner Adam Rose said one reason is that Thai food is unique.

"We do more stir-frying than deep-frying," Rose said.

Focusing on freshness, the vegetables are cut daily, and all of the sauces are made in-house. It's important to Rose that every dish is consistent and delicious. Judging from the comments on the restaurant's Facebook page, Bangkok Peppers Too already has some big fans.

The dining room is bright and casual, with a little international flavor. The walls are red, orange, and hot pink, with accents of lime green. Images from Thailand decorate the walls. Offering dine-in and carryout, the restaurant has been open for about three weeks. Just by turning on the "open" sign, they've attracted some attention.

The menu has a variety of options. Rose declared the Pad Thai the most popular item on the menu, but also enjoys the Red Snapper and Thai Peppersteak. Drunken noodles are a big hit as well.

If "Bangkok Peppers" sounds familiar, it's because it's also the name of a popular Thai restaurant in Grand Blanc, also operated by Rose's family. The Fenton location is "still family-owned and operated," Rose said and he added that the new location offers the same customer service and at home feel as the original.

Rose is certainly not alone at the Fenton location; he credits his parents, Chad and Susie Rose, uncle and aunt, Kiat "Charlie" and Kitty Punklin, and sister and brother-in-law for making the restaurant work.

"Team is everything to us," said Rose.

Thai cooking is a way for him to connect to his family heritage, he said.

Rose came back to the restaurant business, and Michigan, after a time out of state.

His college degree is in marketing, and he spent some time working as a fundraiser for the Boy Scouts of America.

"I always knew I was going to come back, but it's good to be back in a small town setting," he said.

Rose wants Bangkok Peppers Too to be a place where customers feel welcome.

"We want to make sure they feel at home, that they're part of our family," said Rose.

He's set himself the goal of learning the first name of every customer he encounters.

 It is currently open 11:00 a.m.  to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
