Plans Submitted For Culver's on Owen Road

Service drive could be installed to help traffic flow.

Fenton is one step closer to having a new place to grab a hamburger – make that a ButterBurger.

Fenton building and zoning administrator Brad Hissong has for a Culver’s restaurant at the site of the State Bank building, on Owen Road, near South Alloy Drive.

“We are extremely excited to make the move to Fenton,” said franchise owner Kevin Powers, who also owns and operates a Culver’s restaurant in Clarkston with his sister, Katie Schmitt. “We feel it will be a terrific fit.”

Powers said the building is currently occupied, so everything is still in the planning stage.

“Once they move out, we will start our project,” Powers said.

He added that he hopes the restaurant will open by the end of the year.

Hissong said there could also be a service drive installed at the location, which would also allow customers to pull out onto South Alloy Drive, leading them to a traffic light.

“That could lighten traffic and make that location a little less confusing,” Hissong said.

According to the Culver's menu on its website, they offer ButterBurgers, sandwiches, soups and salads along with dinners of fried chicken, shrimp, cod and beef pot roast. They are also famous for their frozen custard.

The Wisconsin-based company has 428 restaurants across the country. The closest Culver's to Fenton is located in Clarkston at 6910 Sashabaw Road.

“If everything moves forward, we feel it would be great fit for us and the community,” Powers said.
