The Big Red Bus Rolls into Gerych's in Fenton

The Big Red Bus appeared at in Fenton for England's big wedding of Prince William and his lovely brunette bride, Catherine Middleton. But one doesn't have to be a member of the Royal Family to rent the double-decker for corporate picnics, weddings, graduations, community events and other celebrations.

The bus originally hails from England, and owner Jon Gerych obtained it from a friend who operated a restaurant out of it in Detroit, said Chelsea Mills, of Graphic Design for Gerych's Distinctive Flowers & Gifts. In its former life, it was Deckers Coffee Pub & Grille.

So, what lies inside? The lower level of The Big Red Bus is a kitchen, where people can provide their own catering. Serving can be from either side of the bus. There is a set of winding stairs to the top, which features tables and chairs. It has seating for 25 to 30 people at a time, for dining and celebrating.

Patrons just can't drive it. Gerych's transports it to and from events, where the bus must remain parked, Mills said. Custom banners and graphics packages are available, which can be placed on the vehicle for a unique Big Red Bus Experience. Rentals for tables, chairs and umbrellas are available as well.

Those who rent it must provide their own water and electrical hookups, and Gerych's staff will handle the job of connecting The Big Red Bus to these.

People have been taking their photographs in Gerych's parking lot with it, which they are welcome to do, Mills said. "We've had lots of inquiries."
