New inductees

On Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, The Rotary Club of Fenton inducted two new members, Mary Johnson and Jim Hall. Mary is a Registered Nurse and professor of nursing at U-M Flint and Jim is the owner of Hall Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge of Fenton. During the induction ceremony, conducted by assistant District Governor Rob Jewell, the two new members were enthusiastically welcomed by their fellow Rotarians. Sponsors were Tracy Boettcher for Mary and Dale Swihart for Jim.

Following the induction, Noah Morgan, Chairman of the Special Projects Committee and Dave Dixner, Fenton Rotary President, gave passionate presentations on the role that Rotarians play in our community. Noah emphasized the projects that we Rotarians are involved in during the year; the Senior Picnic at the  Lake Fenton Sailing Club for residents of area nursing homes and assisted living facilities, ramp builds for disabled residents and Christmas Fest at Bush Park. It is at this Christmas Fest that elementary school students decorate live trees and enjoy a well received lunch hosted by members of Rotary. In addition, our contribution to Angel Tree results in over 200 families having a memorable Christmas. Bush Park has benefited from Rotary over the years. Soon a new bridge will replace an old dilapidated bridge at the island in the Shiawassee River near the Tot-lot. These are only a few of the contributions made throughout the year.

Dave Dixner emphasized "Service Above Self", the Rotary motto. He expressed his vision for the year as we continue to improve the quality of life for citizens in our area. To further that goal we are seeking quality individuals who wish to give back to the community. Fenton Rotary is THE organization that continues to give back.
