Paranormal Activity in my Kitchen

Sharing a story of a haunting, as well as asking the question, are you a believer or a skeptic and why?

According to statistics, over 70 percent of the country believes in the paranormal or has had an experience. Can you guess what this is gonna be about? The title may or may not have given it away...Yes! Ghosts, supernatural, spirits, the paranormal. Whatever you wish to call it, that is what this is about!

My initial reasoning for wanting to blog on the subject is genuine curiosity. On a personal note, I have dealt with the paranormal all my life. I live in a haunted house, see, hear, and feel things I cannot explain on a scientific or common-sense level. I've been touched by unseen hands, heard someone calling my name when alone, felt as if I was being watched, etc. And for the longest time, I have always been drawn to learn about this subject, both on the side of belief and the side of skepticism. And this past summer, I began a paranormal investigations society to gather my own evidence and to help those who don't fully understand what is going on around them when they experience similar occurrences.

The question I always almost enjoy asking is, are you a believer or are you a skeptic? My next favorite question is why are you a believer or skeptic? And I ask you these very questions.

I can tell you many stories on encounters I have had in my own home. In fact, I want to share with you one such encounter that happened last year.

I was in my bedroom watching a television show with my cousin, my mom in the living room. My dad was gone on a business trip and wouldn't be back until the next day. As my cousin and I were chatting about the show, my mom suddenly begins to raise her voice like she is almost yelling at someone. I go out to the living room and ask her what was going on and she tells me she can hear the door knob to the back door of the house (located just past the kitchen) shaking like someone is turning it but can't open the door. The hairs on the back of my neck stand on end and I decide to go and see what she might have been hearing.

I stopped at the kitchen and turned the light switch on to see half of the cupboard doors wide open. I instantly called for my mom and she and my cousin came to see what I was calling about. My mom and cousin saw the cupboards and we all felt like something was wrong. I closed the cupboard doors, deciding not to worry too much about it. My mom took our dog outside while my cousin went with me to turn the TV off in my room. I went back in the kitchen afterward and this time every cupboard door was wide open. I felt afraid at first, not expecting it a second time, but afterward I became very angry. I slammed the doors shut and walked into the back porch to find the pantry and cupboards next to it open as well. After I shut those, my mom came back inside and I told her what happened. My cousin had watched me without saying much, not sure what to make of what was going on.

We decided to bless the house using sage, a method originally used by Native Americans. We burned the sage around the house and property, feeling as if the air had grown lighter. The cupboards didn't open again.

Its funny, because I've only ever seen the cupboards open once and it was that night. But my Dad told me afterward that on many occasions when he would be getting ready for work in the morning, he would find the cupboards open. I only wished he would have told me before....

So for all of you out there, do you have an experience to share? Or do you have reasons to say its not possible? I like to hear both sides of the story. It makes me feel stronger as a lead investigator of my society. So speak up, share a little! Until next time!
