On The Road With Donna- Adventures

Thanksgiving from Florida to Michigan

Where to begin.....

Last week was a busy one. Jeff (my hubby) and I packed our duffle bag and headed to Bishop Airport in Flint. It was a cold day last Thursday and proceeded to get darker as we made our way to security. The line was long as we discovered it was taking longer then usual due to the full body scan machine everyone was being required to use. After making our way through and stopping to put our shoes back on and belts we continued to discover the airport had once again been renovated and not only was there a restaurant there was now a full gift store and bar. Another wing is also under construction. As we sat waiting for our flight to board it started to snow with flurries.

We have both been born and raised in Michigan and use to enjoy winter. Now with time and age we do not look forward to the cold but instead any travels to warmer weather. Our flight was called and we boarded to Florida. A beautiful flight through huge white fluffy clouds. Landing in Tampa the sun was a beautiful and the temp was 73 with the evening sky approaching. It is amazing the automatic difference you feel in cold verses warm temps. No aching joints and an instant lift in spirits.

Meeting our folks added to the enjoyment of our arrival and we spent the next week helping them with their home, shopping, flea markets, antique stores and visiting with our other friends in the 80 degree temperatures. Being gun enthusiast we found a great place called gold diggers and gun slingers and laughed when we discovered the owners are from warren, michigan. We went back a few times with other family and friends and enjoyed everyone working there.

Then it was back home and to our happiness it was 60 when we arrived. Of course today it is freezing and snow keeps spitting but it is Michigan and it is that time of year. Now we are back to our routine and preparing for the holiday season.

Thanksgiving is always looked forward too with the house filled with kitchen cooking and baking, kids laughing and adults conversing. Our friends and family gathar and it warms and lifts the spirits as a trip to warm weather does.
