On The Road With Donna - Holidays

thanksgiving

?? Why would anyone want to get into big lines and watch people break out into runs, fights and turn evil for a limited stock of sale items ? I sat here Thanksgiving night at 9pm and ordered every Christmas item online. No crowds, no early rising, no hoping stock wouldn't run out.Check it out next year, you will be pleasantly surprised. Friday I arose as a normal person and enjoyed breakfast and went to TSC to get dog food and water softener salt. I chuckled at the people that looked like death warmed over and complaining about employees at being rude and no one having enough of the sale items.

I was very happy to see the Treasure Shack on Thompson Road in Fenton and on Torrey enjoy the added customers this weekend and urge even more to checkout there stores. I found so many things for the people I just NEVER KNOW what to buy for at these places. From old Tonkas to tractors made from old sewing machines (treasure shack). Remember both these places are open on Sunday too.

The night before turkey day we had a ball with our grand kids. Our son brought down all three girls and we made cookies, watched movies and laughed a lot.The next morning we cooked and aunt Chelsea played and kept an eye on all of us. Grandpa could not leave the room without the baby chasing after him.

Thanksgiving went great. Jeff and I cooked all morning. My friend Mary told me what she does with her turkey every holiday and once I tried it I have not stopped. The day before you bake your turkey and leave it in the frig or cold garage overnight. The next morning shred the turkey and put in a croc pot covered in home made gravy. It truly is delicious and your stove is free to bake and cook everything else.Later, after everyone (including our friends) arrived for dinner we played Kinect and laughed even more while working off the many desserts we all consumed. It was a very enjoyable time and warmed the heart.

Tonight we had white turkey chili and biscuits. mmmm good.I love left overs and everything you can make out of them. Tomorrow will be quesadillas and sweet potato fries. Afterwards we are hitting the road to the treasure chest and Fratz to see what stocking stuffers are to be had.
