THE END OF THE WORLD???

Are we really getting to the "End of the World"?

I am one of those people that chooses to stay out of the "loop."  I have decided to stay informed enough to make good decisions however uninformed enough to live a really happy life.  This means not watching TV, staying away from the news and other media that promotes fear and negative feelings and surrounding myself with happy people and positive energy.  It helps, it really does!  So yesterday I finally heard that this Saturday is supposed to be "the end of the world" and I thought to myself, I am glad I didn't know that until now because I may have had an unnecessary sense of urgency that may have disrupted my normal life flow.

So then it came up again today on Facebook and has me thinking.  Whenever anyone comes up with the concept that it may be "the end of the world," regardless of where it came from, that is something to ponder.  If tomorrow was the end of the world, what would you do today?  More importantly, what would you have wanted to accomplish way before today that you haven't already done?  For some of us, it would be going full out to persue a dream, for others it may be telling someone something, sharing something, helping someone, saying "I love you" more often, showing someone how much you care, heading back to school, quitting the job you hate, applying for your dream job, spending more time outside or with family, worrying less, connecting more...and the list goes on and on and on.  It is fun to take a moment and ask the question "if today was it, what would I do?."

I have often asked myself that very question.  Somtimes I come up with something big, sometimes small...but automatically my brain shifts to another question from there of "what am I waiting for? and why would I wait anymore?"  Over the past few weeks, some really exciting opportunities have been presented to me and I have watched myself try to muster up an excuse as to why I am not able to do "this" or "that?"  I have even heard some of those excuses leave my lips in the form of actual words.  One particular excuse that came out of my mouth last week sounded so ridiculous, I then turned around and immediately acted on it in a really big way...and it is going to be profound when it comes to fruition.  For myself, I find that when I start taking steps towards fulfilling my wildest dreams, LIFE gets really, really exciting.  If the end really is tomorrow, and I know that ahead of time, that makes me a little sad, for just a moment.  Then in the next second I turn around and look back on my life and all my blessings and have confidence that I have taken big steps in some really great directions and I am OK with it all.  Besides, this whole talk about "the end of the world" is possibly summed up in a popular REM song..."It's the end of the world, AS WE KNOW IT."   Frankly, this world has gone a little crazy and a huge shift in it would not necessarily be a bad thing.
