Anti-Bullying Speaker, President Obama and Bikini Contest Winner Highlight This Week's News

Here are five of the top stories this week in the areas surrounding Fenton.

1. On Thursday, Fenton Patch writer Renee Hard had a story about Fenton resident who has overcome bullying to become a renowned speaker and author. In addition, Ford was named the Huffington Post's Greatest Person of the Day, and the Fenton Patch article was also posted on the Huffington Post website.

2. On Friday, Patch was on the scene for visit at the General Motors Orion Assembly Plant in Orion Township. Obama and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak toured the plant together after a trade agreement was made.

3. Family members of Dominick Calhoun, a 4-year-old Argentine boy who died in April 2010 after suffering severe beatings, gathered with supporters Thursday at a rally in Lansing to mark the introduction of a bill called Dominick's Law. On Wednesday, the Tri-County Times reported that the proposed bill to increase punishment of child abusers would be introduced Thursday in the Michigan House of Representatives.

4. A 60-year-old Holly man died Tuesday evening after his motorcycle hit a deer on northbound Old U.S. 23 near Wallace Lake Drive in Hartland, reported on Tuesday. James Moelke was pronounced dead at the scene after being thrown from his motorcycle about 7:30 p.m.

5. of Fenton Township a belly dance instructor and performer, took second and third prizes in two classes of the Great Lakes Ironman Natural bikini competitions this month. She shared her story, published Friday, to Fenton Patch.
