Car Wash Kicks Off Community Parent's July Events

Drug prevention group will host a community picnic Sunday and July Jam on July 17.

Many children wearing T-shirts reading “Turn in a Dealer 810-424-4444” rinsed, scrubbed and dried vehicles for donations for future Community Parent projects. They even washed a Fenton Township fire truck.

Fenton Township Trustee Tony Brown said the group is making a lot of .

The Community Parent had nearly 30 people walk in the .

He said the group is working on implementing a drug prevention presentation for middle school students, starting in the fall. The group plans to continue the program at high schools.

Brown said the group also plans to equip schools with a counseling program specialized in drug addiction.

The organization has two more family events planned for July.

The group will hold a community picnic at 1 p.m. Sunday. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to pass.

On July 17, the drug awareness and prevention organization will host the July Jam at the from 2 to 8 p.m. The show will include live music from Kitty Hawk and the Beatnik Hippies. The family-friendly event will be smoke and alcohol free. There will be a $7 admission fee, but no one will be turned away.

There will also be a non-perishable food collection for a local addiction treatment centers.
