Fenton Art Walk Coming Together

New area event still looking for artists, merchants.

The first ever Fenton Art Walk is taking shape.

About a dozen artists and a dozen businesses have signed up to participate in the June 24 event, which will run from 4:30 to 8 p.m. The Fenton Downtown Development Authority is sponsoring the event.

“My phone is ringing off the hook,” said organizer Natalie Burg, of the marketing group New Moon Visions, by the . “Things are going great.”

Artists from all over mid-Michigan have requested to be involved. Many established art walks charge a fee for artists, but they can participate for free for the Fenton event.

“We’ll take as many artists as we can get,” Burg said.

Visitors will be able to come to a booth in downtown Fenton and receive an artist passport, which will include an instructions and also artist and merchant information. People can then visit businesses to observe the art, meet the artist and explore what each store has to offer.

“We want each merchant to offer something special. We want each stop to be a mini event,” Burg said.

People will also have the opportunity to win prizes.

Merchants and artists have until May 27th to sign up for the event.

“Artwalks are incredibly fun events,” says DDA Chairman Craig Schmidt. “They give an entire community the opportunity to mingle, visit their favorite businesses, and see some great local and regional art. We have so much talent in our area of Michigan, and this is a great way to show that off.
