Library Officials Looking for Support for New Facility

Group wants to have state of the art building for Fenton.

Local library officials are asking for your help.

The Fenton Winegarden Library and its supporters are working to bring a modern, state-of-the-art facility to the Fenton community - and there’s only one way to make that dream happen: public support.

“We’re so excited that the City of Fenton has established a Library Building Fund,” said Library Board member Bobbie Sweetman. “This gives us the ability to accept donations from the community that will so benefit from the beautiful, accessible building we hope to build in the heart of Fenton.”

The new building fund isn’t the only reason that acting now is the best time for donors to give. Due to a recent public act passed in Michigan that will eliminate the Public Contribution Credit, donations made to non-profit organizations like the Library Building Fund will no longer be tax exempt.

“We want to let our donors know about this deadline so they will get the most benefit from their donations made now, before the end of 2011,” said Sweetman. “This presents them with the opportunity to create the financial foundation we’ll need to the give the Fenton community a library they can be proud of.”

The Fenton Library Board is taking an active role in the campaign to have a new facility. They have assembled a dynamic presentation on the history and future of Fenton’s library and are eager to share it with local businesses and organizations. Interested groups may contact Sweetman at 810-629-4267 or Dennis Weinand at 248-207-8125 to schedule a presentation.

To make a donation, contact the Fenton Winegarden Library today, or watch for displays featuring Fenton Library Fund envelopes at local government and business locations. The Library is located at 200 East Caroline Street and may be reached at 810-714-0917.
