Man Arrested After Waving Gun at Linden Mother, Daughter on US 23

A 67-year-old Flint man was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon on Oct. 29 after a Linden woman reported he had waived a gun at her and her 12-year-old daughter while traveling on Northbound US-23 in Hartland Township, according to a police report.

The woman told police a white Chevy mini-van tried to pass her, but was unable to do so because of traffic, so it merged back behind her. Then after passing a semi, the van pulled up along the right side of her car and she saw the man holding a black gun with a brown handle. The woman said he was smiling, laughing and waiving the gun around, the report said.

The woman was able to supply police with the license plate number after the man passed her and he was stopped by Genesee County Sheriff's deputies in the parking lot of YaYa's on Corunna Road in Flint Township.

The man had a suspended CPL license, according to the report. Police seized a Nef Gardner .22-caliber Starter Pistol, a .32-caliber Keltech and a loaded Ruger LCR .38 caliber from the man's vehicle, according to the report.

The man told police that he is diabetic and needed to eat, the report said. Police checked his blood sugar before placing him under arrest. The woman's description of the gun that was waived at her matched that of the man's Ruger.

The man was lodged in the Livingston County Jail with a $25,000 bond.
