3rd Annual Fenton ArtWalk Draws Regional Artists

Save the date to attend the 3rd Annual Fenton ArtWalk on Saturday, July 13th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Downtown Fenton. The Fenton ArtWalk will be held back to back with the 12th annual Bastille Day Race hosted by The Laundry from 7:45 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The Fenton ArtWalk, a delightful community event that grows each year, celebrates the arts. It will run from The Laundry at the corner of Shiawassee and Adelaide to Dibbleville at Leroy, then north on Leroy to the Biggby Coffee and Kimberly Kay Furniture.

Be sure to stop in at Edward Jones, located on Mill Street. They have embraced the ArtWalk event with fabulous fun in store. They will give FREE smoothies to the first 100 guests served from the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Tiki Bar. And that's not all, they are hosting live music with pianist Christie Dover, and an interactive community art project outside.

Over 55 talented artists are scheduled to participate and will display and sell their art in unique storefront venues. In addition to local Fenton artists, the ArtWalk has attracted artists from across the region. Visitors will enjoy strolling through town and stopping in 27 different businesses and community locations to see and shop everything from paintings and photography to sculpture, jewelry and more! The Lakes Area Visual Artists will be showing artwork at the Fenton Community and Cultural Center on Leroy, adding a new venue to the event this year.

Live entertainment and fun activities for the whole family will be featured throughout the event. The Winegarden Library, Fenton United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian and St. Jude’s Episcopal Churches all look forward to participating in this year's ArtWalk. The Sweet Adelines chorus will sing a cappella and the “Living Art” program of Corunna High School Art Club will showcase living statues for added enjoyment. Michael Kassel returns to play ukulele and the Steel Head Band will play the steel drums, both enhancing the festive summertime ambiance. Be Closer to culture and enjoy the Fenton Community Orchestra string ensemble playing a variety of music from classical to pop rock at the Fenton Community & Cultural Center from 1 to 4pm.

Don’t forget to stop inside the Fenton Community and Cultural Center to see the Fenton Public Art Mural "Song of the Shiawassee." The mural was gifted to the city by local artists. A total of 15 canvases were painted and assembled to create this 6' x 7.5' mural for public exhibit, which was gifted in 2005; it is valued at over $10,000.  The artists and additional info is available at LakesAreaArtsCouncil.org
