Fenton ArtWalk Artist Kelly Wittenberg to Appear at First Presbytarian on July 13

Residence: Born and raised in Michigan, I have lived in Highland, MI for the last 9 years.

How did you get started as an artist?
: I was laid off for 2 years and have always wanted to explore my artistic side. I went and bought many items to make my ideas in my head a reality. I have always loved abstract framed art and things that are very different, and one of a kind. I use pearls, dried flowers, rhinestones, mirrors, ink, and acrylic paints to make my 2-D mixed media framed art. I started sharing my art with the public April of 2011.

Describe your art: I have been told my art is very unique. That makes me so happy because I am so passionate about making each piece and sharing it. I am a self-taught artist and have not had any classes. It is all personal and within me. After creating my framed art, I started wire wrapping wine glasses, and from there made a pendant for myself. It turned out good, so I made more. I received so many compliments I decided to make a collection of pendants, earrings, and rings. No two are alike and women love them. I use non-tarnish silver and gold wire with a collection of natural stones, dichroic glass, glass crystals and pearls. I also have a sterling collection.

Where can your art be found?:
Thank you for letting me share my story with you and your interest in my art, which is a part of me. My art and jewelry can be found in Michigan at Starring the Gallery in Northville, Pigeon in the Parlour in Holly, Detroit Frame and Art Gallery in Grosse Pointe, Royal Gift Shop in Frankenmuth, The AuSable Artisan Village Art Center in Grayling, G.G. Warren Gallery in Berkley, and Art and Soul in Traverse City. I also do home parties.

Upcoming shows are listed on my website: http://artkreationsbykelly.com/
