Freddy & Tonya Visit Spoonz

Freddy Spaghetti and Tonya Lasagna (mystery diners who are real Fenton residents) review area restaurants.

“Hey Tonya, remember the old TeeBonz on Lake Ponemah?”  “Well it is now Spoonz “ http://spoonzlakeside-tavern.com/

We happened to head on in to Spoonz over the steep railroad track incline (be careful not to bottom out your ride) off of Silver Lake Road just as your head west out of Fenton, on a cold wintery night recently.  The menu looked awesome.   A wide range of appetizers from Lebanese (includes vegetarian dishes), to wings to quesadillas.  Entrees included salads, meat, poultry and fish dishes, pizza (vegetarian) and great looking burgers.  The bar selection is plentiful, from a nice craft beer & wine selection to hand crafted mixed drinks.

Each meal comes with a loaf of fresh baked bread with a honey-almond butter which was fantastic!  Tonya and I ordered a fish dish which came with not your ordinary vegetable of broccoli.  This vegi medley was made up of summer and zucchini squash and fresh green beans.  Tonya’s fish was a bit under-cooked.  It was sent back and the manager immediately came over to apologize (something that we said was lacking in the area lately).  Tonya’s dish was made right, and it ended up being a great experience.

Although Spoonz is just beginning to crawl, we think it will be a big hit for the area come summer.  We are excited to go back and try the burgers and some of the appetizers.

Visit Spoonz at 3482 W. Silver Lake Rd. or call them at (810) 208-7601 for more information.

While I personally havent been there yet, some of the staff came in to where I work at and were terribly rude. It kind of styphilled my wanting to go.

We went on March 16th at about 5:30, it wasn't real busy, service was good, but the food was ho hum. They were out of Hummus and what is Lebanese without a side of hummus? We order a yummy sounding burger, it came and looked great, it was juicy, but tasteless. The onion rings were good though. We'll give it another shot in better weather and have lunch and drinks on the deck. Every place deserves two chances in our book. Give it a try and post you reviews, maybe we just hit an off day.

We went a couple of weeks ago - when they were playing host to a lake hockey tourney, so there were a lot of people coming in off the lake in heavy layers to warm up. The food was good, and the server, while admittedly new, did his best with an unfamiliar menu - we thought he gave it a great effort.
As with when it was T Bonz, the shape of the main dining room ceiling makes it VERY LOUD, the sound goes up, seems to amplify and blasts back down on the diners. A couple of loud, drunk women added to the din. It will be good to see how Spoonz handle the patio come spring, that was always a highlight of the T Bonz experience!

LOVE Spoonz! We've been there a lot lately. Pizzas are half off on Mondays - they are great! Happy hour Mon-Fri 4-6pm $2 drafts and $2 well drinks. Highly recommend the Trinidad Salmon! Yum! Fish and chips, also good, love the fries! - fish sandwich is good, comes with homemade chips also very good. Salads are good and fresh. Haven't tried the nachos, but seen them, big enough to split with someone for a meal!

What days do you work there?

I have been there twice now and both times I was very disappointed. The place was not clean and the service was bad. My groups food did not come out at the same time, one meal needed to be sent back twice, the pop and draft beer were both flat. The most disappointing part was our waitress did not seem to care that were was so many problems and did not apologize.

We've been to Spoonz several times both for lunch and dinner. The food has always been great. They have recently discontinued the Lebanese dishes which is too bad - their hummus was awesome. We've gone also just to have a drink at the bar. Here's the great thing about this restaurant compared to Tee Bonez - they have great staff. No more belly button rings showing, tight clothing, or bikini nights. The staff we've had are all very nice and friendly - and professional. I only wish now that they've discontinued the Lebanese they would add more vegetarian dishes.

Baker may be a great trade school for some but just remember that it is not transferable to anyRead More other school or university.

You need to know that if you live around children that you can control your animal. Pitbulls are theRead More most powerful dog that there is. They can jump a 4 foot tall fence. You have to consider would you let your pitbull play with a two year old? There are kids in neighborhoods that play and these dogs can overpower and chew up several adults if it desired to. There are several pitbulls in Fenton and they always snarl and bark aggressively at my 17 month old. Pitbulls seem to dislike wagons and anything on wheels on sidewalks. This is why I despise them. I don't appreciate dogs acting aggressively towards infants and I don't know why anyone would want a dog with the most powerful jaw and meanest temperament of all dogs. These dogs where breed to be vicious, strong and relentless; please don't forget that. Every pitbull owner whose dog chewed up an old lady, a baby, or others always says the same thing " he was the nicest dog, he would lick you to death."

Again, thanks for sharing your opinion. No question that every person should be a responsible petRead More owner; always have their pet under control, no matter what type of animal it is; and socialize it properly.

Thank you Karen, pitbull owners need to take very special care in "socializing" theirRead More animals and take very extreme precautions for their dogs. The average adult can fend off most breeds of dogs accept for pitbulls and children do not stand a chance. Please be aware of the uncontrollable dangers of these dogs.
