Do You Hear What I Hear? Fenton Orchestras Tuning Up for Holiday Concert

The Fenton Community Orchestra and the Fenton High School Jazz Orchestra will present a Holiday Concert featuring classical, jazz, pop and traditional Christmas tunes.

A news release:

The Fenton Community Orchestra and the Fenton High School Jazz Orchestra will team for their fourth annual Holiday Concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Fenton High School Auditorium, 3200 W Shiawassee Ave.

Admission is free but donations are greatly appreciated. Light refreshments will be served after the concert.

Expect a mix of classical, jazz, pop, and traditional Christmas tunes, from timeless classical pieces such as Bizet's “Carmen Suite” and Offenbach's “Can-Can (The Galop) to  jazz and pop standards from the Fenton High School Jazz Orchestra.

Both the orchestra and the jazz ensemble are under the direction Andrew Perkins, director of bands at Fenton High School.

The Fenton Community Orchestra is a multi-generational orchestra comprised of musicians from the Fenton and neighboring communities, who share a love of music and a

desire to perform. Its members range in age from 11 to 70,  and new members are always welcome to dust off their instrument and join the orchestra.

Rehearsals are held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evenings in the band room at Fenton High School.
