Know Your Candidates
Party labels are not enough to go by. Know whom you're voting for. Know your candidates. It's too important not to.
The root of "libertarian" is "liberty." It's rare to find the former without the latter. Can the same be said for other parties? The majority of libertarians hold the same ideals and filter their ideas of government through those ideals. We want less government, not more. We want to secure the rights of all people. This is what guides our decisions. This is what will guide me as county commissioner.
Meanwhile, you can pick any three Republicans and not be sure there is even 70 percent commonality between them. Party labels are not enough to go by. It's hardly uncommon for people to claim a particular party name just to get elected. It nearly goes without saying that people would not run as Libertarians for this reason.
So, where do the candidates stand? I've responded to the press. I've responded to the League of Women Voters. I've responded to the Fenton and Genesee County chambers of commerce. I've even responded to the AFL-CIO. What has been asked of me, I have given. I have made myself available. I have made my intent and my positions known.

There is no feasible way for me to be everywhere and meet everyone, so I have a page on facebook (Facebook.com/ElectJonathanEttinger) where I post positions and concerns. I want to hear from you and I want you to hear from me. As your commissioner, I will do my best to explain my votes and what is going on in Genesee County. I will not hide behind intermittent office hours and scattered schedules. I will not hide behind a party name either.
Know whom you're voting for. Know your candidates. It's too important not to.
