Fenton Boy Turns 11 on 11-11-11

Skyler Koleda is turning 11 Friday, but it’s not just any old birthday.

Skyler is turning 11 on 11-11-11.

“I think it’s pretty neat,” The North Road Elementary fifth-grader said.

He had a few friends over Thursday to play with air soft guns, toy guns that shoot soft plastic pellets.

Skyler has already received one birthday gift of sorts, as Fenton does not have school Friday. Skyler and his friends planned to try and stay up until the time he was born, no not 11, but close, 12:12 a.m.

“We think its awesome cool,” said his mother Nyoka. “It fits right in with the family. My husband’s birthday is 2-2, my son’s is 8-8, my daughter’s is 10-11 and mine is 12-13.”

Skyler was due Nov. 10, but held on for an extra 12 minutes to be born on the 11th.

“It was a very long night,” Nyoka said.

He was 8 ½ pounds at birth, the largest baby on Nyoka’s side of the family, she said.

“We knew it was going to be 11-11-11 at some point, but we didn’t realized he was going to be turning 11 on 11-11-11 until last year,” Nyoka said.

Skyler, who enjoys building Lego’s and playing video games, is hoping for a computer as a birthday present.
