North Leroy Street Resurfacing Project Begins

Access to all businesses will remain open during construction.

Limited lane closures are in effect from North Road to the city limits. The street has been reduced to one lane in each direction during the work. Traffic signals have been adjusted to help traffic flow through the project. City officials are urging residents to be patient as they travel through the construction area.

"Please continue to visit the businesses in the North Leroy Steet corridor," Fenton Public Works Director Dan Czarnecki said.

Currently the northbound lanes and center turn lane have been closed for construction as the contractor makes drainage improvements, performs pavement and curb repairs, addresses the area of settled pavement near , upgrades sidewalk ramps for better handicapped accessibility at intersections, and performs a milling of the street surface and resurfacing of the roadway, Czarnecki said.

The contractor’s schedule is to have the east half of the project completed by mid-July, at which time traffic will be shifted and work will begin on the west side of the street. The project is projected to be completed and open to traffic by August 31st, weather permitting.
