Fenton Officials Rescind Boil Water Advisory

Fenton water is safe to drink again.

For residents served by the city of Fenton's water north of the 800 block of North Leroy Street, bacteriological testing has confirmed the water meets drinking water standards and residents no longer need to boil their drinking or cooking water.

A 12-inch water main on North Leroy Street between Wass Street and North Road broke late Friday afternoon. City crews worked through Friday night and had the pipe fixed and the water turned back on at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Many water customers in this area experienced low pressure or possibly no pressure during this time, which required the city to issue a boil order and to perform additional flushing of the water mains and bacteriological testing. Residents may have noticed discoloration due to system flushing.

The following areas were advised to boil drinking water and water used to prepare food for three to five minutes: Meadow Point Condominiums, Fenton Estates, Crestmont Care Center, Crestview Apartments, Fenton Commons, Glenview and Pineview areas, Wass Street, Granger Street, Lee Street, the North Leroy Street, properties north of 860 North Leroy Street, and the Appletree subdivision including the streets of Appletree, Swanee Beach, Orchard Lake, and South Long Lake. The boil water order did not affect any other areas of the community.
