CHRISTMAS IN ACTION

We believe all seniors should live in warmth and safety. The closing years of life should be a celebration instead of survival.

Well here it goes... Our VERY FIRST Blog about Christmas in Action. We hope that reaching all of you readers we involve you in making our communities and seniors live safe in their own homes for as long as they can!

We believe all seniors should live in warmth and safety. Through community partnerships and volunteerism we provide the FREE home repairs that enable low-income and handicapped seniors to safely remain in their homes. We do this by fundraising all year so that on WORKDAY we can do all the work that is needed on our Workday Homes. Repairs for elderly are push aside so that things such as medications and bills can be paid. This unfortunately leaves home repairs by the way side.... Sadly things as simple as working bathrooms which we all take for granted may not be something that seniors have. Leaks in roofs are very common for seniors. Working electrical is not only a major issue for seniors BUT something that causes unsafe conditions for them. THESE ARE ALL THINGS WE CAN REPAIR FOR THEM ON WORKDAY!

Ramps, windows, roofs and even new paint can make the world of a difference to a senior in need. REMEMBER WE WILL ALL BE SENIORS SOMEDAY. Those in need could be your neighbors, friends, family. GIVING BACK TO THEM CHANGES LIVES!!

Here is just one story of a volunteer who changed a life. Take a minute and think about how simple this story is and WHAT A BIG IMPACT Christmas in Action had on her life!!

I remember on our first house 10 years ago, I was talking to the lady who had multiple things that were done to her house of 100 years old.  I asked her, is there anything that you personally would like to see in your house?  And she said, "I would really like to have a light in my bedroom". That kind of put things in perspective for me. She had been living in this house and never had a light in her bedroom. Something we take for granted everyday, and that is really all she wanted.
