CHRISTMAS IN ACTION Workday 2013 was a SUCCESS!!

Tri County Christmas in Action Workday 2013 is COMPLETE!

WE DID IT! Our 10th year repairing homes for local seniors has come and gone. It's bittersweet in some ways. Knowing that our year of hard work, planning, fundraising and preparing for WORKDAY made it possible to keep Homeowners from Holly, Linden and Fenton in their homes SAFELY was a success makes us all very happy. BUT it's a bit sad that it's all over. See most of us work full time jobs, take care of families and do this almost full time too. It consumes a part of our lives each year and a whole lot of our hearts. Endings can be sad even when they are part of something so wonderful and rewarding. BUT THE GREATEST THING ABOUT THIS YEARS WORKDAY ENDING IS THAT WE KNOW WE GET TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN NEXT YEAR!!

Friday night our President sent us a letter that I wanted to share with you. This man is someone whom I've looked up to and who is the reason why I became involved with CIA. I've learned from him over the years so many things that I can never exprese my gratitude in words. I value his leadership and friendship and look forward to many more years working with him in CIA!

Well, tomorrow is the day we spend all year working towards, Fundraising, Recruiting Volunteers, Recruiting Home Owners, Getting House Captains, Food, Speaking at Special Events, etc.  Tomorrow it all comes together.  It has been a very good year!  Not one but TWO grants that have helped us expand the number of homes we do and the depth of help we give.  We have been on the Radio, in the News Paper, on Billboards and looks like Television Tomorrow ... make sure you smile!

Tomorrow we are going to actually change the lives of our 10 homeowners.  At the beginning of the year they never expected a new roof, a porch they can use, a new kitchen, a bathroom that works, a ramp that will help them in and out of the house.  This is why we do what we do.  It's not for the pay, its not for the glory, there are no awards except the smile and tears at the end of the day.  Tomorrow is the day that makes it happen.  As we are in the calm before the storm, lets be grateful to the many people that make this possible, our volunteers, our experienced house captains, our grantors, our house sponsors, our food sponsors, and many other people and businesses and organizations that encourage us to keep going.

I am very thankful for the people I have met and had the opportunity to work with these past 10 years.  You have done miracles for a lot of people in our community.  Thank you!  Go get 'em tomorrow!  Be Safe!
