HELPED BY CHRISTMAS IN ACTION!

How Christmas in Action has helped a local couple

Sharing with the community is one of the best parts of being involved with Christmas in Action! Being able to tell all of you what we do for our homeowners each year is a perk I very much enjoy!!

Below is the "story" of one of our Board Members and Yearly Workday Volunteers.

To All,

I have a unique privilege to work in one way or another with everyone that is part of Christmas In Action.   As Treasurer of the Board I guess I am the one that gets the mail out of our post box.  After this years work day we have received a few 'Thank You' cards from those that we touch through our actions.  With our big fund raiser next week, I thought I should pass this on to remind ourselves what in the heck are we doing.  One in particular (I feel) needs to be shared as it expresses 'Why We Do What We Do'.  It is actually from the house that Jacquie and I worked on and she had sent a Thank You card and tucked in it was a letter.  So in her own words:

'To Everyone this May Concern,

Thank-you is not enough to say, for all the hard work that went into my home on April 27-29 (and then some).  Your volunteers were some of the greatest volunteers I've ever had the chance to work with.  Bruce and Jacquie were just wonderful.

It was so life changing to us.  I know my husband rubbed a few people the wrong way, but please keep in mind how very sick he really was.

On May 15th my husband was put into Hurley Hospital Mental Health Floor.  He was there for two weeks.  His mind couldn't handle what his body was going through with his cancer and other health issues.  He has been going to mental therapy for 14 weeks now, it has been life Changing for the good.

It has been a long hard working summer, but it was worth it.  If I hadn't been Blessed with CIA, your wonderful wonderful volunteers to help take off the burden of my house, I don't think I would be here today.  I truly mean that.  You guys not only saved my home, you saved two lives also, and you gave us back hope.

I never get in the shower without thinking and Thanking all of you for being my Angels.

Thank-you so much and May God Bless each and everyone of you.

Each and every single volunteer who helped work on this particular home gave this couple hope! AND more importantly made life a bit easier for her while she took care of her husband. Simple home repairs can make such a difference for someone who is faced with struggles in life and who might feel like all the HOPE is gone.
