Buy Everything American, Except.....

I have to stop right here and put a paper grocery bag over my head so noone knows who I am.

Just cutting the eyeholes now.......

We as Americans are fighting for our very lives financially. It makes sense as consumers to buy from one another, supporting business and thereby each other. At the same time, we are presenting our products to the outside world and expecting them to buy ours and not theirs.

Isn't that odd? If every single country, state, and community adopts this philosophy, how is it supposed to work? Ok, 'they' aren't going to notice that 'we' are just buying our own and and not theirs?....It's a little bit consfusing.

What if....ours is not as good as theirs? What if, theirs is better? What if even considering shipping and handling, theirs is pocketbook friendly? Meanwhile, it's not just the products from other countries that we are avoiding, it's products from other states.

I don't even want to say this, but I think we defeating our own purpose. Healthy competition breeds excellence,  doesn't it?

I think I can safely and responsibly say that I won't be chastised for buying an out of state orange. What if....imported oranges are on SALE or if they taste better? Well maybe then someone will say that they aren't as healthy for some reason.

Are we not all members of the human race, supporting communities, providing employment and supporting our families? We send out money to build water systems, schools and hospitals in disadvantaged places, send missionaries and experts. Heck, we even rebuild countries that have fought against us in war.

But wait, that is civilized, generous and is in our best interest, right?

Is it safe for me to take the bag off my head yet? Maybe not, because I just ordered French Tea. In my defense it is imported and then sold by an American business. It is my favorite and I would be less happy without it, I really would. Shoulder slump.
