Fenton Patch Positive Thoughts

Share what makes you smile!

Sometimes the news can get depressing.

Controversies, crime and child abuse are all issues that have been reported on by Fenton Patch. We realize these stories are necessary, but sometimes they don't exactly put a smile on your face.

And we want you to feel good while reading Fenton Patch.

Recently on the Fenton Patch Facebook Page, we've asked residents to share positive thoughts or tell us what makes them smile and we received several responses.

Holly Hodgkin posted that the Ambassadors won double gold at their competition in Chicago.

Holly DeMott posted, "I was in line at Tim Horton's this morning when the car in front of me paid for my order! Random acts of kindness are great!!! Thank you whoever you are!"

Jill Shaw-Dean said, "My daughter had ACL reconstruction in August & tonight she'll be pitching for the Fenton JV team against Lake Orion. Regardless of whether the team wins or loses, she wins!"

Breanne Clark posted, "I help in my son's classroom every week and today two of the children I help finally passed an area they have been struggling with!! They were full of smiles and so proud of themselves, and I am pretty proud of them too!! Kids are wonderful :)"

So we decided to do the same thing here.

If it's positive community news you want, this is place. Tell us in the comments what has made you smile recently or what you are feeling good about. We will keep this column going as long as the positive thoughts continue to be posted.

So tell us your positive thoughts. GO!

The 5th & 6th grade St. John Jets baseball team played their first game last night against Holy Family. The game ended in a tie 4-4 but both teams played great and it was beyond fun to watch these guys on the field!

Two things I've seen recently that continue to dangle a smile in my mind's eye. 1. A beautiful bald eagle flew over the area. It was being escorted out of the territory by a seagul. Actually, any time I get to see an eagle, it's smile time. 2. For the first time in my live, I saw my first-ever, in the wild, loon. What a beautiful bird. Thanks so much to our neighbors for bringing it to our attention.

Thank you all for sharing your positive thoughts. We had a technical problem Thursday when the comments didn't show up for a few hours. I thought "OH NO," not one person has a positive thought! But then the comments were posted I was glad to see you all contributing! Something that also made me smile was that Thursday was the 12-year anniversary of a walk-off, game-winning grand slam I hit for Lake Fenton High School!, http://fenton.patch.com/articles/a-day-in-lake-fenton-sports-history#video-5561995

Plenty of smiling faces at the Run for Dominick Calhoun this morning...despite the early morning chill!

Just read in the TCT that Fenton is number 3 in the county for it's recycling efforts. What a great piece of info to read about especially with Earth Day being tomorrow :)

Definitely a wonderful thing, Stephanie. The other feel-good message to be gleaned from that story is it wouldn't be difficult for Fenton to assume the lead. The leader, Swartz Creek, recycles 18% of their recyclables. Fenton comes in at a smashing 10.9%. With very little effort from Fentonites, we could come in first:) That would be very sweet as well...

A positive for me is my children. They make me smile everyday thinking of how well they have done in their lives and how proud I am of them!
Melissa Morgan April 23, 2012 at 03:08 AM
A positive for me is a healthy and prosperous life. A loving supportive family and beautiful children and husband. My weekday job is depressing, but my daily job as a wife, Mother, friend, sister and daughter makes life worth it.

I do too! One thing I'm thankful for is the much needed rain. I put fertilizer and GrubX down and was hoping for rain :)
