1. Weather

The National Weather Service's forecast for today is a 60 percent chance of rain with a high of 75 degrees. Tonight's forecast is for showers (80 percent likely), with a low of 56.

2. Filling the Tank

The lowest gas prices in Fenton on Thursday afternoon were $3.99 per gallon, according to Mapquest Gas Prices. Stations offering this price were Fenton Marathon, 402 W. Silver Lake Rd., and Clark #0824, 436 N. Leroy St.

3. News

Thousands will come to downtown Brighton today and Saturday, for the Smokin' Jazz & Barbecue Blues Festival, the reports. In addition to jazz and blues music, the event will feature 15 barbecue vendors serving up their savory specialties, as well as non-barbecue vendors and restaurants. Hours are 5 p.m. to midnight, both days.

4. Events

14176 N. Fenton Rd., in Fenton, is hosting a "Medicine Cabinet Makeover with Essential Oils" from 7-9 p.m. today. Participants in the free seminar will learn about essential oils and how to use them for common ailments and making green cleaners for the home. There will be giveaways as well.

5. Looking Ahead

The Flint Institute of Arts will have "Drawing Together: International Cartoons" on exhibit beginning next Saturday, Sept. 15, the Flint Journal reports. The exhibit will feature political cartoons from around the world, dealing with issues such as war, global warming and the environment.
