Lightning Boltz Robotic's Team wins district championship
Congrats to the Lightning Boltz for winning the district championship and earning the highest award an FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) team can earn, The Inspire Award. The team consists of 6 middle school area students who had to build a robot that has to balance a teeter totter by placing blocks into baskets. The last 30 seconds of the game they must raise a flag and from there climb a ramp to hang the robot on a bar.
The Inspire Award is the highest honor a team can earn. The team must go before a panel of judges to not only discuss how they designed the robot but also how they interact as a team. Along side of their sister team The Thunder Botz (whom are competing in Petoskey) they baked 38 loaves of bread and 20 dozen cookies for a homeless shelter earlier in the fall. They then collected enough food to feed a homeless shelter for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The team moves on to the State Championship in 3 weeks in Marshall, Mi.
