Bad Wiring on Air Conditioner Causes Fire at Fenton Home

Pine Street home damaged in fire, five animals rescued.

Bad wiring on an air conditioner caused a fire at a home in Fenton Thursday.

Smoke and flames damaged a home at 111 Pine Street in Fenton after an air conditioner caught fire around 5 p.m., said Fenton Fire Deputy Chief Ed Hadfield.

He said no one was home at the time of the fire, but firefighters were able to rescue four cats and a guinea pig.

There were flames in the living room and smoke throughout the rest of the two-story home. There was major damage in the living room in addition to smoke damage in the rest of the house, Hadfield said.
